Tarja Turunen über Never Too Far

So wurde „Never Too Far“ geboren.  Ich hoffe sie werden diesen Song auch so lieben, wie ich.“

Two Sides: The Very Best Of Mike Oldfield

Besser gesagt ein „The Very Best Of Mike Oldfield“.

Wer Mike Oldfield erst entdecken möchte, der ist mit der „Two Sides: The Very Best Of Mike Oldfield“ allerdings recht gut bedient.

Hush now baby made a start
There’s a jewel in your heart
And a star that shines for you
Watching everything you do
Don’t you cry though it may seem
You were born into a dream
There’s another race to run
You were not the only one
Standing in the morning sun
Waiting though it had begun
May you never run aground
Or fall into the deep deep sound
Stormy weather turns to blue
Here’s a song to take with you

Tears of an Angel (Lyrics)

Composed by Mike Oldfield

I wanna feel…
Can you give me?
Feel me?
Falling like rain are the tears of an angel.

Can you feel me?
Feel me?
Falling like rain are the tears of an angel.

I wanna feel…
Can you feel me?
Feel me?
Falling like rain are the tears of an angel.
Can you touch me?
Touch me?
Falling like rain are the tears of an angel.

I wanna feel…

[Chours]
I want more, I want more
I want more, I want more
I want more, I want more

Surfing (Lyrics)

Composed by Mike Oldfield
Vocals: Virtual Vocals by Software Vocaloid

Have you seen the space in my eyes? Be warned. Believe it.
Have you seen the fades in my skies? We can’t conceive it.

Surfing, like surfing. I’m looked and I’m searching. I’ve fallen out right into the net!
Morning and evening, I’m flying and dreaming; oh, can’t keep it out of my head!

Surfing, like surfing. I’m looked and I’m searching. I’ve fallen out right into the net!
Morning and evening, I’m flying and dreaming; oh, can’t keep it out of my head!

Have you seen the phantom in my dream? Be warned. Believe it.
Have you seen the spaces in between? We can’t conceive it.

Surfing, like surfing. I’m looked and I’m searching. I’ve fallen out right into the net!
Morning and evening, I’m flying and dreaming; oh, can’t keep it out of my head!

Surfing, like surfing. I’m looked and I’m searching. I’ve fallen out right into the net!
Morning and evening, I’m flying and dreaming; oh, can’t keep it out of my head!

Surfing, like surfing. I’m looked and I’m searching. I’ve fallen out right into the net!
Morning and evening, I’m flying and dreaming; oh, can’t keep it out of my head!

[Guitar Solo]

Surfing, like surfing. I’m looked and I’m searching. I’ve fallen out right into the net!
Morning and evening, I’m flying and dreaming; oh, can’t keep it out of my head!

Surfing, like surfing. I’m looked and I’m searching. I’ve fallen out right into the net!
Morning and evening, I’m flying and dreaming; oh, can’t keep it out of my head!

Sunlight Shining Through (Lyrics)

Vocals: Martay / Pepsi Demacque

Amazing Grace! (How Sweet That Sound)
Has Sav’d A Wretch Like Me!
I Once Was Lost, But Now I’m Found
Was Blind, But Now I See

And I, Want To Feel Sun On My Face
And I, (I), Feel A Shadow In Its Place

T’was Grace That Taught My Heart To Fear
And Grace My Fears Reliev’d
How Precious Did That Grace Appear
The Hour I First Believ’d!

And I, Want To Feel Sun On My Face
And I, (I) Feel A Shadow In Its Place

(Chorus)

With The Sunlight Shining Through Cloud
When We’re Standing Free, Proud
With The Sunlight Shining Through Cloud
When We’re Standing Free, Proud

Thro‘ Many Dangers, Toils And Snares
I Have Already Come
‚Tis Grace Has Brought Me Safe Thus Far
And Grace Will Lead Me Home

And I, Want To Feel Sun On My Face
And I, Feel A Shadow In Its Place

(Repeat Chorus Twice)

With The Sunlight Shining Through Cloud
Sunlight Shining Through Cloud
Sunlight Shining Through Cloud
Sunlight Shining Through Cloud

Song of Hiawatha (Lyrics)

Vocals: Maddy Prior
Lyrics: Extract from „Hiawatha“ by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

By the shores of Gitche Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water,
At the doorway of the wigwam,
In the early Summer morning,
Hiawatha stood and waited.
All the air was full of freshness,
All the earth was bright and joyous,
And before him, through the sunshine,
Westward toward the neighboring forest
Passed in golden swarms the Ahmo,
Passed the bees, the honey-makers,
Burning, singing in the sunshine.
Bright above him shone the heavens,
Level spread the lake before him;
From its bosom leaped the sturgeon,
Sparkling, flashing in the sunshine;
On its margin the great forest
Stood reflected in the water,
Every tree-top had its shadow,
Motionless beneath the water.
From the brow of Hiawatha
Gone was every trace of sorrow,
As the fog from off the water,
As the mist from off the meadow.
With a smile of joy and gladness,
With a look of exultation,
As of one who in a vision
Sees what is to be, but is not,
Stood and waited Hiawatha.
Toward the sun his hands were lifted,
Both the palms spread out toward it,
And between the parted fingers
Fell the sunshine on his features,
Flecked with light his naked shoulders,
As it falls and flecks an oak-tree
Through the rifted leaves and branches.
O’er the water floating, flying,
Something in the hazy distance,
Something in the mists of morning,
Loomed and lifted from the water,
Now seemed floating, now seemed flying,
Coming nearer, nearer, nearer.
Was it Shingebis the diver?
Or the pelican, the Shada?
Or the heron, the Shuh-shuh-gah?
Or the white goose, Waw-be-wana,
With the water dripping, flashing,
From its glossy neck and feathers?
It was neither goose nor diver,
Neither pelican nor heron,
O’er the water floating, flying,
Through the shining mist of morning,
But a birch canoe with paddles,
Rising, sinking on the water,
Dripping, flashing in the sunshine;
And within it came a people

Sally (Lyrics)

(Original)
Text, Music & Vocals: Mike Oldfield & Nico Ramsden

Isn’t it good to know
You only get one go.
Give me a key and let me see.
Try and act normally!

Seems it’s an ancient art
To be the one who starts it rolling.
Wouldn’t you like to know the way?
Hear what the wise man say.

Sally, I’m just a gorilla.
I’ll say I’ll love you ever more.
Even an ape from Manila
Couldn’t stop me knocking on your door!

One and a-one make two.
Only you must come through.
If there’s a way, then let me say:
I’d rather stay with you.

Seems it’s an ancient art
To be the one who starts it rolling.
Wouldn’t you like to know the way?
Hear what the wise man say.

Oh island of the soul
Valleys hushed and white with snow
Ireland’s eye – you linger with me ‚til the day I die
Oh how it hurts to go

The waters ebb and flow
The changing seasons come and go
Ireland’s eye – forever reaching up into the sky
Oh how I’ll miss you so

The sunlight dancing on your rocky shores
The moonlight playing upon the water
Your memory will stay with me forever-more
Wherever I may roam

Stay with my dreams I will see you
Safe in my heart I will keep you

On Horseback (Lyrics)

Vocals:Mike Oldfield, The Penrhos Kids

I like beer, and I like cheese
I like the smell of a westerly breeze
But what I like more than all of these
Is to be on horseback

Hey and away we go
Through the grass, across the snow
Big brown beastie, big brown face
I’d rather be with you than flying through space.

I like thunder, and I like rain
And open fires, and roaring flames.
But if the thunder’s in my brain,
I’d like to be on horseback

Some like the city, some the noise
Some make chaos, and others, toys.
But if I was to have the choice,
I’d rather be on horseback.

Chorus
Some find it strange to be here,
On this small planet, and who knows where.
But when it’s strange and full of fear,
It’s nice to be on horseback.
Some are short, and others tall,
Some hit their heads against the wall.
But it doesn’t really matter at all,
When you happen to be on horseback.

Chorus
So if you you feel a little glum,
To Hergest Ridge you should come.
In summer, winter, rain or sun,
It’s good to be on horseback.
Chorus
Chorus
You know, I’d rather be on horseback.

Ode To Cynthia (Lyrics)

Lyrics: Ben Jonson
Vocals: Maddy Prior and Sally Oldfield

Queen and huntress chaste and fair.
Now the sun is laid to sleep,
Seated in a silver chair,
State in wanted manner keep.
Earth let not an envious shade
Dare itself to interpose.
Cynthia’s shining orb was made
Heaven to cheer when day did close.
Lay the bow of pearl apart,
And the crystal-shining quiver,
Give unto the flying heart
Space to breathe how short so ever
Hesperus entreats thy light
Goddess excellently bright.
Bless us then with wished sight
Thou who makes a day of night.
