Demo Tapes auf der Audio-DVD
Wie bereits schon berichtet, gibt es auf der DVD-A von “Tubular Bells 2003” einige Demos der Urfassung aus dem Jahre 1971.
Erste Details, wie diese Demos entstanden, findet man im Booklet der Audio DVD “Tubular Bells 2003”. Alex hat freundlicherweise erste Informationen dazu im deutschen Fanboard und auch auf seiner Homepage bekannt gegeben.
Some time in 1971, Kevin Ayers, the leader of the group for which I played bass and guitar lent me a Bang & Olufsen 2 track tape recorder. I was living in a single room flat in Woodside Gardens, Tottenham. The instruments that
I had were a single guitar, a bass, a farfisia keyboard and a toy set of a children´s play bells.
Using a HeathRobinson technique of snipping the wires of the erase head and swapping the wires of the record head in conjunction with the sound on sound facility of the machine I was able to record a rudymentary kind of stereo.
These Demos are exactly as they were and have not been remastered or edited in any way.
They have no titles and are the same as they were in 1971, hence the dropouts & weird noises.
